Freezer Label Materials

Label material or face stock is the base material upon which the information is printed on the label. Depending on the shape and material of the product that needs labeling, you will need different types of labels stocks.

Freezer labels typically fall under two categories of use: ‘dry conditions’ and ‘wet conditions’ For DRY, we use paper material specifically meant for cold/dry exposure. For WET, we use synthetic material (polyester/vinyl) specifically meant for cold/wet exposure, ie. condensation, frost, etc.

Here you can download our PDF catalog of label materials with detailed information about each material we offer:

Four basic types of label materials are:

1. Paper

Paper is the most common type of label stock. It is low costing and can easily be die cut into your preferred shape, but it has no moisture, chemical, tear and UV resistance. Some of the paper materials we offer are: deep freeze paper, glossy paper, laminated high gloss paper, matte paper, paper labels on rolls with UV varnish, semi-gloss paper.

2. Polyester

Polyester, commonly known as PET, is a synthetic material with high resistance to moisture and decay. We offer clear polyester, gold polyester and silver polyester materials.

3. Polypropylene and Polyethylene

Polypropylene (PP) and Polyethylene (PE) are synthetic materials. PP is mostly used for application on rigid containers (such as glass, PET) because of the rigid nature of the polypropylene film. On the other hand, polyethylene is ideal for non-uniform, flexible packaging because it can stretch in all directions. However, it’s not as tear-resistant as PP.

4. Vinyl

Vinyl (PVC) is a very durable material that’s resistant to chemical solvents, moisture, tearing and UV exposure. Note that it’s minimum application temperature is +10° C. It is available in transparent and white color, with a glossy or matte surface.
